Abstract

Background: A healthy, sound and informed medical team is ideal in treating and managing their patients. Long stressful shifts may often lead to clinical errors. To combat such errors, a trial of “Secured Handover Sheet” (SHS) system was introduced, in South Tipperary General Hospital (2018) and Naas General Hospital (2020). SHS is a communication tool which complies with guidelines of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and European Union Safety Agenda (EUSA) and results have shown better patient management, minimising the clinical risks, minimal over time breech of non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs), and also cost effective.
