Abstract
The trends in diagnosis and management of small renal masses, incidence, prevalence, and mortality will be addressed, especially the new treatment modalities for systemic disease as well as local therapy for small masses. The topics of renal mass biopsy, safety, accuracy, as well as the long-term health implications of nephron sparing surgery will be discussed. The options for management of small masses including surveillance with data regarding safety and progression, biopsy, ablation, and surgery, as well as robotic techniques, 3D modeling, tools and cases are also topics will be presented. Several cases with imaging, pathology, and outcomes for the audience will be discussed and comment upon their preferred approach. The lecture will conclude with a review of the available clinical trials in the US for patients with small renal masses as well as for patients with metastatic disease.
