Abstract

Three distinct polio vaccine schedules constitute equally acceptable immunization methods, AAP leaders are asserting on the eve of federal officials implementing a new recommendation for protecting children against the disease. The Academy9s announcement follows the recent U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approval of a recommendation for a sequential polio immunization schedule using inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) for a child9s first two doses, followed by two additional doses of oral polio vaccine (OPV).
