Abstract

Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes are increasing worldwide and only surgical manipulations provide sustained treatment options in the long term. Among surgical techniques, those based on intestinal diversions are associated with higher success rates, compared to restrictive operations. However, operations based on intestinal manipulations are associated with varying degree of malabsorption and thus require life-long supplementations. We hereby represent a novel method named the 'transit bipartiton' which is associated with absolute no malabsorption, with acceptable control rates on weight and related co-morbidities.
