Abstract

Poor adherence to controller medications contribute to uncontrolled asthma for inner-city children. To achieve adherence, written asthma action plans are provided to families. Despite these efforts, caregivers are still left confused. We hypothesize that poor visual recognition of controller medication is a predictor of uncontrolled asthma. The use of a pictorial asthma action plan may aid in compliance.
