Abstract

Objectives: To quantify anger and its components with the help of the scale STAXI-2 in patients having mild to moderate essential HT. 2. Correlate these values with systolic and diastolic BP. 3. Evaluate efficacy and safety of individualised homoeopathic treatment in patients of mild to moderate essential hypertension by modifying anger versus standard care of treatment. Methods: In this prospective ongoing, single blind, randomised control study The patients are divided into 2 arms through simple randomisation. Thorough homoeopathic Case taking is done of all patients. They are given necessary diet and exercise advice and also anti-hypertensives were prescribed by physician wherever required. One group is given indicated homoeopathic remedy and the other group is kept on placebo for 6 months with regular follow up every 2 weeks. Anger is assessed through STAXI-2 along with record of the blood pressure. STAXI-2 is performed at the beginning of the study, before starting treatment and at the end of 6 months, to measure anger pre and post intervention. The effect of similimum is then evaluated on blood pressure as well as anger and recorded. Results: Pilot study conducted on 80 patients showed: 1.Reduction of anger in 80% patients in study arm and 17.4% patients in placebo group. 2.90% patients in study group showed reduction in blood pressure values. Whereas, after 6 months of intervention, there were 71% patients whose blood pressure readings did not show significant reduction in control group. 3.79% patients showed improvement in both high blood pre Conclusion: The hyper-response as a characteristic component of the hypertensive pathology is not completely controlled by standard care of treatment. Indicated homoeopathic remedy i.e. similimum does play an important role in resolution of hypertensive pathol
