Abstract

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa that manifests as rhinorrhea, nasal congestion, and sneezing. Induced by seasonal (eg: pollens) or perennial (eg: house dust mite; HDM) allergens, AR can be successfully studied using the Environmental Exposure Unit (EEU), a clinical model which has been previously validated for birch, ragweed, and grass pollens. In this study, we seek to clinically validate the HDM-EEU for HDM-induced AR.
