Abstract

Ultra-thin zeolite nanosheets have received widespread attention due to their superior catalytic performance compared to bulk zeolites. Here, we have designed a new structure-directing agent with a tert-butyl benzene group as the large-diameter hydrophobic end of a bi-ammonium surfactant molecule. Using this novel structure-directing agent, zeolite nanosheets with a thickness of ∼ 2.5 nm were synthesized, which exhibit better catalytic performance than bulky zeolites in the Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction of trimethylbenzene and benzyl alcohol.
