Abstract

A new zone model for reaction of solid particles with zeroth order reaction with respect to the fluid reactant and first order with respect to solid reactant has been proposed and analytical solutions for conversion and effectiveness factor obtained. The effect of Biot number and Thiele modulus on model predictions is investigated. Comparison of the model to other models for fluid solid reactions is presented together with the method for model discrimination. The model predicts conversion time behaviors encountered in practice.
