Abstract

The design of a fast multichannel data acquisition system is described. The system offers flexibility in terms of channel selection, input sensitivity, resolution and acquisition rate with conversion times of better than 10μs per channel. Digital data is stored in a local 64 kbyte data memory prior to transmission to a remote mainframe computer. Overall system control is achieved by a Z80A system. High speed front-end control is performed by a simple but fast synchronous controller, the design of which is discussed in some detail.
