Abstract

A numerical solution is presented for an infinite wedge in the state of plane strain under uniform pressure on one face. The wedge consists of an incompressible, elastic-plastic material with both kinematic and isotropic work-hardening. The analysis is based on a generalized von Mises yield function and its associated flow rule in strain space. Numerical results are presented for a 45° wedge to illustrate the effect of work-hardening. At large plastic strains the numerical results differ significantly from a previous approximate analytical solution by the first author.
