Abstract

This publication consists of an introduction and a translated and annotated catalogue of foreign films in Soviet distribution from 1927 to 1953, i.e. throughout the Stalin era. This catalogue is one of the most complete records, which complements numerous existing lists, including of the so-called trophy films brought to the Soviet Union after the war by the victorious Soviet army when leaving Berlin. This serves as supporting evidence for the influence of foreign films on Soviet film-makers and audiences.
