Abstract

In this paper, a split ring is proposed as a phasing element for wideband reflectarray design. A full 360° phase coverage is obtained through changing gap size of the split ring element. The phase curve is a straight line at central frequency and parallels to each other when the working frequency deviates from the central frequency. Then a reflectarray with a circular aperture of 300 mm in diameter is designed and simulated. The full-wave simulation results show that a gain of 33.8 dB with aperture efficiency of 60.1% is achieved at the center frequency of 20 GHz, and the 1-dB gain bandwidth is 23.0%.
