Abstract

A simple two-finger strip antenna with wideband performance and dual-band circular polarization (CP) has been presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is fed by a coplanar-waveguide transmission line. Firstly, to excite a right-hand circularly polarized wave, a rectangular patch is added at the end of the left finger. Secondly, the dimension of the left side of the ground plane is modified in order to excite the left-hand circular polarization. Finally, to reduce the lower resonant frequency, an open-stub is added at the left side ground plane so that wideband characteristics can be obtained. The measured impedance bandwidth ranging from 1.49 to 2.92 GHz covers the operated bandwidth of most commercial wireless communication systems.
