Abstract

A wideband circularly polarized (CP) rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) based on the concept of traveling-wave excitation is presented. A lumped resistively loaded monofilar-spiral-slot is used to excite the rectangular DRA. The proposed DRA is theoretically and experimentally analyzed, including design concept, design guideline, parameter study, and experimental verification. It is found that by using such an excitation, a wide 3-dB axial-ratio (AR) bandwidth of 18.7% can be achieved.
