Abstract

The skin is an organ that acts as an essential barrier between the outside world and the inside of the body. When this natural defense function is compromised, it can lead to xerosis, inflammation, chronic dermatitis, and other skin conditions (Kubo et al., 2012). Several studies have reported that diet can affect skin barrier function (Parke et al., 2021). For example, docosahexaenoic acid, a type of omega-3 fatty acid, is known to increase the expression of FLG, a component of the skin's natural moisturizing factor (Wallmeyer et al., 2015).
