Abstract
The hearing impaired or deaf people communicate or express their ideas with the help of body language or movements called Sign language gesture. The sign language notation is the structure is completely based on the information get from the signing space, shape of hands, bodily movement, and facial expression. British sign language (BSL) is the popularly used sign language system in the UK. Lack of proper guidance complicates the communication process as most of the time normal people does not have much knowledge about BSL. With the help of deep literature review, some existing systems involves in the translation of natural language to sign language and vice versa are studied. The system that involves in the capturing of hand gestures with wearable gears does not have the capability for storage while dealing with lot of data and hence the efficiency gets reduced. Other systems that relay on camera to detect the body movement may be inefficient when the user's device image capturing capacity are poor. When comes to the simulation of avatar to produce the sign language visually can also reduce the performance when the simulation goes wrong when the system fails to trigger the gestures at the proper time. By keeping all the research in mind along with the availability of internet abundantly which helps people to access any system available on the internet very easily. So, the model proposed is based on internet where the accessibility of the system would be much easier instead of delivering and creating using other technical options that are specifically designed for computer or mobile or operating system. At the initial phases, the collection of latest BSL sign Bank into the database provides exact dataset collection. The proposed system is a web-based portal which allows the user to provide the input in the form of text and then converts the given text to BSL with the help of dataset collection form the database and provides proper guidance for the usage of BSL effectively. The web-based application can be accessed by the user who are signed up in the portal with the user details. With the help of this project, data related to the translation will be stored in the database along with the error log, hence the efficiency of the system increases by increasing the accuracy of the result. Unlike the avatar simulation, the result are image and video based which are validated and pre-saved. This can prevent the uncertainty of providing wrong translation.
