Abstract

ABSTRACT THE random nature of weather makes the analysis of grain drying a difficult task. A general simulation model (WEGDM) for grain drying system design and management has been developed for this purpose. The model can use historic weather data or generate necessary weather variables based on given distribution for simulating grain flow, moisture content, grain storage life, grain losses and costs of drying. Multiple modes of drying such as solar and gas are allowed in the drying facility. The expected net present value of cash flow is used for drying system optimization.
