Abstract
Background and Aims: HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) may not always represent the HDL function. The present study was conducted to help predict the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) by investigating novel cardiometabolic biomarkers based on substituting paraoxonase 1 (PON1) as a crucial enzyme in the functionality of HDL for that of HDL-C.
