Abstract
Abstract A new robot has been designed for use in abattoirs for specific dressing operations associated with sheep and lamb carcass processing. The robot is manufactured from stainless steel and its lightweight construction results in high performance characteristics allowing it to be installed overhead in an inverted dressing system. The prototype device can be reconfigured in terms of tooling and programming for other dressing operations and it introduces innovative technology into the meat processing industry. The prototype has been successfully trialed at a commercial meat processing plant.
