Abstract

Condition monitoring is one of the preconditions of condition maintenance. As an important part of secondary equipment condition monitoring, visualization can provide an effective user interface for operating staffs to view warnings and a supplementary means to eliminate defects. Since the communication in substation is based on Ethernet, the visualization of network topology and connection relationship among equipment become key information that shouldn't be ignored in condition monitoring. In this paper, we summary works of secondary equipment condition monitoring that have been done in three aspects. Considering the demand of secondary equipment condition monitoring, we propose a visualization framework for smart substation secondary equipment condition monitoring after summarize the advantages of Scalable Vector Graphic (SVG). Design works on the visualization framework are mainly consist of 3 parts: system structure, user interface design and interactive design. At last, we realize a condition monitoring system adopting the classification method and the visualization framework. The running result of this system in a simulation laboratory proves that it can provide a more effective way to show the warnings and to locate the fault than current way.
