Abstract
As a community of people seeking to discern and participate in God's redemptive mission in the world, the missional church is shaped and directed by the liberating and transforming presence of the Holy Spirit. It is not simply that the Spirit supports the missional work of the church, but that the Spirit is the active missionary. Much more than a strategy or a program, mission is the fulfillment of a promise (Acts 1:8). Continuing the theological work begun by the book Missional Church, the church is viewed as the locus of mission: a sent people among whom the Spirit speaks and acts. Called and empowered by the Creator Spirit, the Eschatological Spirit, and the Koinonia of the Spirit, the church is God's mission to a broken and rebellious world.
