Abstract

Data acts like the heart of an organization, so it needs to be protected from loss and damage. For this purpose, we use backup and recovery strategies. But duplication, which is present in the data, creates a high-cost problem in relation to the storage. With the high rate of increment in the amount of data, it has become a problem to store it in such an efficient manner so that we can reduce the cost of storage and get enough space at low cost. To overcome this problem, at the time of data backup a technique is used to eliminate the redundant data so that one single unique copy of data will be stored which will save space and cost, that technique is known as data deduplication. This paper includes the study of different methods and techniques proposed by other researchers about the data deduplication system.
