Abstract

Factorization formulae are derived for the vibrational transition probabilities for the cases of a forced harmonic and an anharmonic (Morse) oscillator, which relate the transition probabilities for initially excited states to those out of the vibrational ground state. Properties of the factorization formulae are discussed as well as approximate scaling relations obtained in the weak excitation limit.
