Abstract

Describes a valve for use in multiple-breath, inert-gas washout studies. The central body of the valve is a triangular prism with a mouthpiece tube on the front face, and 2 identical inspiratory ports attached to the back faces. An expiratory port is mounted vertically to the underside of the central body and a supporting bracket is fastened to the top surface. The design involves 3 solenoid-driven valves immediately behind passive diaphragms.
