Abstract

The concept of sacrifice in Semitic and non-Semitic religions has been explained in this research paper. It has been found that there is a clear concept of sacrifice in Judaism, but the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and Hazrat Ismail (peace be upon him) is attributed to Hazrat Isaac (peace be upon him) attributed to and they call him Zabih Allah. They offer animal sacrifices to worship God. Their argument for the acceptance of a sacrifice here was that fire came down from heaven and consumed it, as in the Bible. The sign that God accepted a sacrifice was that a fire appeared from the unseen and consumed it. "There is no law apart from Jesus; his practice was also based on the Jewish law. Later, John Paul made distortions in Christianity, as a result, the concept of sacrifice that was associated with Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) did not remain and they no longer organize that sacrifice. Hinduism is the oldest among Indian religions. In this religion, the attributes of sacrifice, knowledge and freedom are the source of divine knowledge. The benefit of sacrifice has been stated that it fulfills all wishes and gives paradise. Sacrifice is the means to get rid of all sins. So it is in Bhagwat Purana that "after killing the whole world, Narayan got rid of sin by just sacrificing a horse". In the Vedic period, slaughterhouses existed in places and Brahmins used to sacrifice animals in the name of gods and divide the thigh meat among themselves. While the concept of sacrifice in Islam is that Allah Almighty ordered Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to slaughter his most beloved animal and both father and son prepared for it, but Allah intended only to test them, in which they were successful, Allah Almighty. Both of them liked this performance so much that they issued this Sunnah for the doomsday.
