Abstract

The three-band Hubbard model on a two-dimensional CuO 2 plane is studied based on a Gutzwiller wavefunction using the variational Monte Carlo (VMC) method. We calculate the energy, the number of holes on Cu sites, the momentum distribution function, and the spin and charge structure factors in the strong coupling limit, where the Coulomb repulsion between holes on the Cu site is U d=∞.
