Abstract

We prove that for the relative entropy of faithful normal states ϕ and ω on the von Neumann algebraM the formula $$S(\varphi ,\omega ) = \sup \{ \omega (h) - \log \varphi ^h (I):h = h^* \in M\}$$ holds.
