Abstract

In this paper, a reactive power (VAR) optimization model is proposed combining the precise linear modelling of transformer on-load tap changer (OLTC) to reduce power losses and voltage deviations. In the proposed method, the distributed generator, static and discrete VAR compensators, and transformer OLTC are chosen as control variables. The nonconvex optimization model is transformed into a convex problem through cone relaxation and precise linear modelling of OLTC. The numerical tests show that the model can significantly reduce the network losses and voltage deviation.
