Abstract

Chief executive officers (CEOs) of enterprises need to stimulate their followers' inner motivation in a manner that involves solely spreading an ideology. Two kinds of leadership behaviour with such efficiency are 'ethical leadership' and 'value-based leadership', and both emphasise the importance of a leader's moral value to their leadership efficacy. Since ethical leadership is still a confusing construct, and no comprehensive theory is available to explain how ethics/morality can result in leadership efficacy. Based on value-based leadership theory, this article tries to investigate the components of CEOs' ethic leadership.
