Abstract
Abstract A validation study for the analysis of seven corticosteroids in tablets, using an automated blue tetrazolium reaction, has been completed. The method is sensitive and applicable to concentrations normally found in dosage forms and does not require extensive sample preparation. Standard deviations for betamethasone, cortisone acetate, dexamethasone, hydrocortisone, methyl prednisolone, prednisolone, and prednisone by the automated procedure are reported, and the assay results were compared to those by the USP or NF method. The interference of common tablet excipients on the automated method was also determined.
