Abstract
This paper describes a vacuum Interrupter hybrid special current-limiting fuse to compose a higher capacity short circuit current interrupting device which can be quenching vacuum arc by two ways. One way is applying axial magnetic field by vacuum interrupter. An another way at same time to make short circuit current passing through current-limiting fuse which has seted always parallel across vacuum interrupter. This short-circuit current vacuum arc extinguishes by both ways at current zero. The quenching arc metallic particles to each shield of vacuum interrupter and silicon sand of current-limiting tube rapidly. The dielectric strength recovery is easily and quickly. Due to the current-limiting fuse is in parallel with the vacuum interrupter no transient recovery voltage (TRV) appeared. In addition, the paper gives three applications for discussion. There are three applications: (1) Application to improve quality of electric energy; (2) Application to bypass limiting reactor; (3) Application to generator protection.
