Abstract

Andrei Vasil'evich Shestakov belonged to the first generation of Soviet professional historians. Work in a factory, participation in the Revolution and Civil War, study at the Institute of Red Professors (IKP), and finally, research and teaching: the road traveled by A. V. Shestakov was from semiliterate worker to professor and corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and author of numerous works on the history of the October Revolution and the Russian Revolution of 1905-1907.
