Abstract

High entropy alloy films are a kind of novel alloy films which have a similar scientific concept to high entropy alloys. Films with multiple components and high mixing entropy usually form an amorphous or solid-solution structure. They feature many excellent properties, such as high strength and hardness with a remarkable strain hardening rate, excellent wear and corrosion resistance, thermal stability, irradiation resistance, high toughness for a wide temperature range of applications, etc. with which traditional films cannot compare. In recent years, high entropy films have shown a fast development potential in various fields. This chapter reviewed the recent developments about high entropy films, including preparation methods, composition design, phase structures, and performances. And also, the prospect of high-entropy films being used for high-throughput experiments is put forward. Several technologies that can be used for high-throughput preparation of high-entropy materials have been discussed.
