Abstract

This chapter details a unique research design. The action research orientation and actionable knowledge outcomes that arose from this research methodology, design and process were quite distinctive and allowed the research to proceed with respondents feeling like participants in a process, rather than objects of a study. The main objective, to improve the human condition (action research exists to promote liberating social change), involved learning and engagement by both researcher and respondent. I used a multi-method design, including the philosophical perspectives of Heideggerian phenomenology and naturalistic inquiry (Vickers, 2005e).
