Abstract
The research problem is characterized by the dispersion in the collection of the Private Library of the Writer Haroldo Maranhão,located in the Arthur Vianna Public Library in Belém do Pará. Justification: To show the benefits of computerizing the collection and the difficulties and obstacles encountered in this process. Objective: To analyze how the information is organized in this collection and to show the usability and mediation of the Pergamum System and the ways in which the user searches and retrieves information within this collection. Methodology: Case study, based on bibliographical research, with a descriptive purpose. The research found that the Pergamum System is a tool with significant potential for the process of retrieval and mediation of information, making the collection available for consultation by users of the Public Library Arthur Vianna.
