Departing •om usual focus on the spatial conditions of urbanity, the paper brings a potentially •esher approach which draws •om disciplines still largely unrelated: philosophy and urban studies. A series of concepts of urbanity unfold as we explore the experiential, communicative and ontological conditions of urbanity as a lively fabric of relations of actors, acts and spaces. €e approach shows the fabric of urbanity cut across by an ethos inherent to forms of life open to an unbounded communication, and aims at a de†nition which would allow us to get reconnected with the common sense notion: urbanity as the ethos of an open coexistence, the orientation to the Other and the becoming of the urban.+…, -†„!€ | urban cultura, public space, urbanity.
