Abstract

A green complex, formulated as (eta/sup 5/-C/sub 5/H/sub 5/)/sub 3/UCHP(CH/sub 3/)/sub 2/(C/sub 6/H/sub 5/) on the basis of elemental analysis and spectroscopic characterization, was prepared in good yield from the reaction of (eta/sup 5/-C/sub 5/H/sub 5/)/sub 3/UCl with an equimolar amount of Li(CH/sub 2/)(CH/sub 2/)P(CH/sub 3/)(C/sub 6/H/sub 5/). The crystal and molecular structure was determined by x-ray diffraction. This determination not only confirms the proposed formulation but also indicates that multiple bond character may be ascribed to the U-C bond.
