Abstract

A uniquely packaged internal inverted-F antenna is proposed for Bluetooth or wireless local area network (WLAN) application. The antenna is printed on the inside surface of the stylus holder of a personal digital assistant (PDA) or a smart phone. The proposed antenna operates within 2:1 voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) throughout the entire Bluetooth band (2.4-2.485 GHz). The bandwidth of the antenna is 11% with the stylus inserted, while it is 12.4% without it. The radiation pattern of the antenna is very nearly uniform in the planes of interest.
