Abstract
The normal course of the sciatic nerve out of the pelvis is through the greater sciatic foramen, below the inferior border of piriformis muscle and descends between the greater trochanter and the ischial tuberosity (Williams, 1995). There is evidence for anatomical variations of the course or level of division of the sciatic nerve (Pokorny et al., 2006). Variations of the anatomy of the sciatic nerve may be responsible for complications related to total hip arthroplasties.
