Abstract
We give the expression for a unique, renormalization scheme and group independent, gauge parameter independent coupling constant in QCD. The asymptotic behaviour of this effective coupling constant is given in terms of a renormalization scheme independent mass scale Λ. Its value is Λ ≅ 0.7 to 1.1 GeV.
