Abstract

To realize image generation in real time with a portable radar system, a uniform diffraction tomographic (UDT) imaging algorithm is proposed to investigate objects buried in planar stratified media. Unlike conventional diffraction tomography (DT), UDT provides smoothly continuous images through layered structures, and like DT, the fast Fourier transform (FFT) is applied to generate images in real time. 2D imaging results with a high dielectric contrast in adjacent layers are presented to demonstrate the advantage of UDT over DT. Monostatic near-field experimental data is applied to show the efficacy of the proposed algorithm.
