Abstract

A disc radiator having uniform gamma source strength per unit surface area has been designed and tested. Measured source strength distributions using the short lived isotope 20F showed that the source strength was constant to within about ±10 per cent. The design method can be used for other short lived isotopes such as 16N in order to produce uniform gamma radiators emitting high energy photons.
