Abstract

Several approaches to spin-wave theory are analyzed from the viewpoint of algebraic realizations. The relations between the states used by Holstein and Primakoff, Dyson, and the present authors are established. It may be more advantageous to define the ground state in the momentum space (i.e., the reciprocal lattice space) than in the lattice space. Some of the other merits of two-boson formalism are also mentioned.
