Abstract

This paper presents a 2 GHz continuous-time 4th order current-mode (CM) band-pass CMOS Delta Sigma Modulator (DSM) based on a fully balanced active inductor with positive feedback topology. The proposed active inductor features accurate loss compensation and capability of independent tunability of quality factor and resonant frequency. A CM resonator implementing the active inductor has also been introduced and used to implement a 2 GHz 4th order CMOS DSM. Simulations using the TSMC 0.18 um CMOS technology showed a peak SNDR of 47.2 dB and power consumption of 30 mW.
