Abstract

AbstractThe various parameters that influence selectivity and activity in heterogeneous hydrogenation catalysis are classified, starting from the effects that are of the simplest physical nature to proceed to those that have a more pronounced chemical nature. Solvent effects, other soft interactions, support effects, site coordination and surface structure effects, electrostatic effects and electronic effects are discussed. Blurring the influence of one factor with another and synergisms have to be considered.
