Abstract
AbstractAs photometric standards, A-Type stars have proved to be extremely useful; this is particularly true of Vega, the fundamental photometric standard. However, the identification of at least some main-sequence A-type stars as small-amplitude variables, while of interest as an issue of fundamental astrophysics, needs to be understood if they are to continue to be used as photometric standards. Flaring and Rossby waves are proposed in the literature as possible explanations, as was discussed during a well-attended Workshop debate. This report summarises the discussion, and suggests future investigations.
