Abstract
A two stage method for edge detection is proposed in this paper. During the first stage the potential edge points in the picture are obtained using a fast method based on a differencing edge detector. The real edge points are detected by applying an edge operator only to the potential edge points. The motivation behind this two-stage method is fast edge detection.
