Abstract

The present paper discusses a two-dimensional piezothermoelastic problem in an orthotropic infinite plate exhibiting crystal class mm2. The plate is subjected to heating on one surface and electric surface charge on both surfaces. This problem is analyzed by means of the solution method proposed by the authors. The numerical calculations are carried out for a cadmium selenide solid. The elastic displacement and stress distributions are compared with those obtained for a similar thermoelastic problem without the piezo-effect. The effects of the electric surface charge on the elastic displacements, stresses, electric potential, electric field intensities and electric displacements are investigated.
