Abstract

A description is given of an approximate solution of the two coupled differential wave equations with their coupled boundary conditions which describe the vibration of a piezoelectric bounded plate. The authors kept as solutions two orthogonal wave functions, each depending only on the Cartesian axis corresponding to the propagation direction and satisfying the boundary conditions only in an integral form. This solution entailed the neglect of piezoelectric coupling in the transverse direction. The approximation does not substantially affect the computed results, the errors of which are 4%, as far as the resonant frequency is concerned. This model is used to compute the electrical impedance of the piezoceramic varying its dimensions and its lateral and frontal loads. >
